Moscow to host Minsk oblast Days 9-11 October

The Minsk oblast Days will take place in the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow on 9-11 October, it was learned from the Minsk oblast Executive Committee on 7 October.

The program of the Days includes cultural and sport events, a round-table conference on cooperation between the Minsk oblast and the South-Eastern District of Moscow alongside with various folk art exhibitions.

As the products of the Minsk oblast companies are in demand among Moscow residents, the organizers are going to hold an exhibition-fair of consumer goods. Taking part in it will be Borisov and Molodechno dairies, Kopyl butter factory, Slutsk creamery, Borisov and Slutsk canning plants, Kalinka, Smilovichi walk-mill, Eliz garment factory and other companies.

The Minsk oblast Executive Committee and the prefecture of the South-Eastern District of Moscow signed a program of long-term cooperation in May 2003. It was prolonged in April 2009. Moscow has hosted joint social and economic events since 2003.

Moscow is an important trading partner of the Minsk oblast. In 2008, the bilateral trade increased by 7.2% and amounted to $400 million. The export was up by 11.8%. The foreign trade surplus totaled $193.8 million.

Belarusian products are promoted to the Moscow market not only under direct contracts but also through the commodity distribution network. The Molodechnomebel has its outlet in the South-Eastern District of Moscow. The district hosted more than 100 exhibition fairs of the Belarusian goods in 2008.

The Minsk oblast supplied Moscow with dairy and meat products, eggs, electric equipment and spare parts for vehicles and tractors, furniture, hosiery, pharmaceuticals, etc. Moscow, in turn, exported plastic sheets, films, strips, single fiber, special purpose vehicles, tea, footwear, etc.
