Sergei Sidorsky visits Kazakhstan

Premier Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky went to Kazakhstan on a working visit on 8 November.

He is scheduled to meet with his Kazakh counterpart Karim Masimov on 9 November. The sides will hold face-to-face negotiations followed by extended talks. Then the prime ministers are set to meet with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev.

Belarus and Kazakhstan have an active political dialogue. The presidents and the prime ministers of both the countries regularly meet with each other within the framework of the CIS, EurAsEC and CSTO.

Alexander Lukashenko visited Kazakhstan, in 1999. The President of Kazakhstan traveled to Belarus on an official visit in 2000. In December 2004 Alexander Lukashenko went to Kazakhstan on a working visit. In May 2005 the President of Belarus traveled to Kazakhstan on an official visit. Karim Masimov was in Belarus on an official visit on 9-10 June 2009. The sides reached a roadmap agreement on development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

In January-September 2009, Belarus-Kazakhstan trade made up $288.1 million, or 68.2% as against the same period 2008. The export decreased by 14.4% and totaled $236.1 million, import was $52.0 million (down by 64.5%).

Belarusian companies have established their ventures that assemble tractors, harvesters, balers, elevators and furniture in Kazakhstan.
