AdvertisementsCataloguesNewsBelarus-Azerbaijan trade up 32% in January-AprilIn January-April 2010 the trade between Belarus and Azerbaijan totaled $58 million, up 32% over the same period last year, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolai Patskevich told a press conference in Baku on 1 June.“The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus has been steadily increasing. That proves the two countries have developed good trade and economic relations,” the diplomat said. Last year the trade reached $124.6 million, up 1.1 times from 2008. Belarus’ import from Azerbaijan includes juices, nuts, vegetables, fruit, kerosene, tobacco, linen. Belarus exports to Azerbaijan the products of its engineering and electrotechnical industries, food, construction materials, refrigerators and other goods. The two countries have been implementing a joint action plan on cooperation between the Agriculture and Food, Trade Ministries of Belarus and the Azerbaijani Ministries for Agriculture and Economic Development for 2009-2011. The two side have considerably expanded the volume and assortment of agro-industrial supplies. In 2009 Azerbaijan supplied Belarus with 1,200 tonnes of agricultural products worth $1.6 million. Belarus exported 7,800 tonnes of the agricultural make to the tune of $3 million to Azerbaijan. “Our countries have made great headway in the economic cooperation. Despite the global financial downturn, we have been able to avoid those serious problems many countries faced. Of course the foreign trade of the two countries reduced slightly during the crisis. But, thanks to a well-thought concept, Azerbaijan and Belarus have succeeded in the economic growth and reached a high level in the partner relations,” Nikolai Patskevich said. www.belta.by Back to "All news" | Print version
