Korotkevich’s Wild Hunt of King Stakh presented in ten countries

The Wild Hunt by King Stakh by Vladimir Korotkevich has been presented in ten countries, BelTA learnt from spokeswoman for the Culture Ministry of Belarus Anna Smolskaya.

At the initiative of the Culture Ministry and with the support of the Belarusian Culture Fund, the book has been published in Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, and English for the 80th anniversary of the birth of the writer. The book has been presented in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Estonia.

According to Anna Smolskaya, in Russia, the book was presented in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk Center of Belarusian Culture, Izhevsk State Technical University, the Tchaikovsky House Museum in Votkinsk and the Udmurtia National Library. In Kiev, a presentation was held with the participation of representatives of the Belarusian Diaspora, students studying the Belarusian language, the general public and the media. The Belarusian Embassy donated three copies of the Wild Hunt of King Stakh to the National Library and National Museum of Literature of Ukraine, the Center of the Belarusian Language and Culture at the Institute of Philology of Kyiv National University.

The campaign has been organized by the Culture Ministry, Foreign Ministry, the Belarusian Culture Fund, diplomatic and consular missions of Belarus abroad.

Vladimir Korotkevich was the first Belarusian writer who turned to the genre of historical detective. He was awarded the Yakub Kolas State Prize of the BSSR for the novel “The Black Castle in Olshany”, the Ivan Melezh Literary Prize of the BSSR for the novel “Unforgettable”. He was also awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples. Many movies have been made based on the works of Vladimir Korotkevich.
