Belarus’ trade surplus with Moldova up 2.1 times in H1

In H1 2011 Belarus’ trade surplus with Moldova reached $67 million, up 2.1 times on the same period last year, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova.

In January-June the export to Moldova soared 55.9% to $101.6 million. Moldovan supplies to Belarus grew 5.4% to $34.6 million.

Belarus-Moldova trade in the first six months of 2011 went up by 39% to $136.2 million.

The first consignment of Belkommunmash trolleybuses to Chisinau contributed to Belarus’ trade surplus and an increased export to Moldova in January-June 2011. The whole batch of Belarusian trolleybuses (102 vehicles) is to be delivered to the Moldovan capital by September.

Belarus’ Ambassador to Moldova Vyacheslav Osipenko has earlier stated that vibrant mutual trade between Belarus and Moldova shows that a preset goal of $500 million in bilateral trade is eminently attainable. In his words, a high level of understanding between the countries, a big untapped potential and an intention to develop mutually beneficial cooperation prove the task can be accomplished.
