Ambassador: India’s interest in Belaruskali remains unchanged

India has always been interested in Belaruskali. This is the way it has been and will remain in the future, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Manoj Kumar Bharti told reporters, BelTA learned.

The diplomat also said that India is interested both in buying Belarusian fertilizers and in joining Belaruskali in the capacity of an investor. “India is a big agricultural country, and we are interested in potassium fertilizers and in their manufacturer as we would like to purchase fertilizers at lower prices,” he said. The Indian diplomat also explained that the negotiations on supplies of Belarusian fertilizer to that country continue.

Commenting on Uralkali’s announcement on the cessation of cooperation with Belarusian Potash Company, Manoj Kumar Bharti said that India closely monitors any changes in the market of fertilizers. "After the split from BPC, following the announcement of Uralkali, India has had a new supplier of potash fertilizers. We will certainly take this fact into account,” the Ambassador said.

He also drew attention to the fact that the Indian government is not involved in the procurement of potassium or nitrogen fertilizer. These issues are handled by private commercial companies. It is they who determine from where and how much fertilizer will be imported to the territory of India.
