Danish-Lithuanian company to make furniture in Grodno

A Danish-Lithuanian company is going to start a major furniture manufacturing operation in Grodno, BelTA learned from Dmitry Rozhkov, deputy head of the administration of the free economic zone Grodnoinvest. A Danish-Lithuanian company Jakobsen Home has been registered as a resident of the free economic zone Grodnoinvest. It intends to create a versatile furniture manufacturing enterprise. Initially the company intends to invest about €1.5 million in the project and to create 300 jobs. The new enterprise will be located at free premises of the company OAO Radiovolna. Initially the enterprise will make soft furniture such as sofas, armchairs, and chairs as soon as 2016. Later on the company intends to make storage furniture such as wardrobes and chests of drawers. Components for furniture manufacturing will be bought from Belarusian companies. On the whole, the project is supposed to evolve into a major European-level enterprise that will be horizontally integrated into the global sales system of the Danish-Lithuanian company. Initially the entire output will be exported, primarily to Germany and Northern Europe. Later on the enterprise intends to export at least 70% of the output. The Danish-Lithuanian company Jakobsen Home specializes in designing, developing and manufacturing soft furniture through reliance on Scandinavian traditions and modern design. The company's enterprise, which is closest to Belarus, was opened in the Lithuanian city of Alytus in 1999.
